Description
The flagship location for La Colombe, Philadelphia’s renowned coffee roasting company, sits in a giant refurbished Fishtown warehouse that is part restaurant, part bakery and part bar.
On-site, you’ll find a tasting room, roasting facility and a variety of seating to accommodate respite-seekers, as well as large groups.
Java-lovers and others enjoy the cafe’s variety of breakfast, lunch and dinner selections, weekday half-price happy hour and classes on espresso, latte and other home-brewing methods.
A mural by local artist Steve Powers paints the cafe’s brick walls, and high ceilings make the often busy front room feel open and spacious.
The History
La Colombe has roasted and served traditional European coffees since launching in 1994 with five flagship blends.
From its entry into the coffee world, co-founders Todd Carmichael and Jean-Philippe Iberti have seen impressive growth, with four Philadelphia cafe locations and more than a handful of others in Washington D.C., New York and Chicago.
As one of the early pioneers of direct trade, the coffee brand prides itself on proactive, long-term relationships with small-holder farms and socially responsible coffee-growing associations.
